The Niche Website Challenge begins!

Today marks the beginning of the Niche Website Challenge. So excited to get going on this!

A couple weeks ago Logan Thompson contacted me and asked if I wanted to be in a contest with Chris Guthrie and himself to see who could start some sites from scratch and build them into some money makers. We invited James Seligman as well and make it an all Washington State affair.

We talked together and laid out the rules. Here are the basics:

1.  We have to build at least 10 websites that generate commissions. There can’t just be one site that hits big and we want to see the revenue spread out.

2.  We can’t use links from any existing sites or use current email lists or anything like that. Has to be completly from scratch.

3.  No paid search or paid ads. All the traffic needs to come naturally.

4.  First one to reach $1000 in commissions in a calendar month wins.

Pretty basic for the most part.

The main reason I am looking forward to this challenge is it will give me some motivation. I am pretty lazy by nature and a contest like this will motivate me to get some more sites built, play around with some new tools, learn more about generating traffic from Facebook and other skills like that I am lacking. Hopefully it will also help me streamline my site building process and make it something I can eventually outsource and replicate.

Currently I have about 18 domains I will be developing. Some will be datafeed sites, some will be single product sites, and some will be more review type sites. I am sure as I go along I will branch out from my current list of sites I want to build. Hopefully I will be able to crank out a new site every couple days and be able to keep up with all of them. I have a lot of ideas floating around my head but iff there are any affiliate managers, merchants, or OPMs out there who have a niche they think I should target and build a site around I would love to hear from you.

So wish me luck! Now I have to get back to work on my first site. Hopefully it will be ready to launch by the end of the day.
