In just over two weeks (is it really coming that fast???) it will be time for Affiliate Summit West in Las Vegas. If you haven’t signed up yet there might still be a few spots left but it will probably sell out very quickly. It will be an awesome conference and I would highly encourage you to sign up now.
Anyway, as a new part of Affiliate Summit there will be some special sessions called the Monitize Summit. These sessions will be specifically focused on how to make money with a wewbsite.
As a part of the Monitize Summit Eric Nagel, Scott Jangro, and myself will be doing a session on datafeeds and how they can be used to make money. Hopefully we will be able to provide some good information to all levels of affiliates, bloggers, and web masters. We want to do our best to cover as much info as we can and we want to give you the information and tools you need to properly use datafeeds to monitize your sites.
In order to do that we need your help. We want to know what you want to know. We will have time for questions at the end of our session but we want to get some questions ahead of time so we can give you the best information. So leave a comment below with your questions and let us know how we can make this session useful for you.
Go ahead… leave a comment and ask a question.
How can a non technical person quickly learn and thrive with datafeed driven sites? (what is the easiest way to get started?) common mistakes noobies make?
Hi Joe,
Indeed, datafeeds can be a great way to monetize your sites. However, one of the challenges I've found is that not all datafeeds are created equal; while there are *some* industry standards, not everyone follows them, others abuse them (by putting data in the wrong places), and some verticals don't seem to have them. Can you share about any recognized industry standards for datafeeds in different vertical categories? (i.e. ecommerce, travel, finance, etc)? Thanks and good luck with the presentation!
Thanks for the question Jason. We will be addressing that during the presentation. Unfortunately there isn't a lot that can be done. When you have many different datafeed sources it is tough to come up with any industry standards.
There is a Performance Marketing Association working group that is working on datafeed standards: http://www.performancemarketingassociation.com/wo… so hopefully something will come out of that.
Hello Joe,
I saw this post on in our group on Facebook. As Joe mentioned, all datafeeds are NOT created equal and I diagnosed a major issue with Yahoo Store feeds in particular. All the details are in my post about Yahoo Store Feeds.
I was told while researching that some affiliates avoid Yahoo stores because they have problems with images and they don't convert. That post explains why and what the fix is. Affiliates need to know if merchants have that problem BEFORE they start promoting them.
Odd… I posted a question earlier but I don't see it live and now I can't remember it lol.
Not sure what happend to your other question. Never saw it come through. If you remember it you can post it or just grab me at ASW and let me know how I can help you. Or you can always ask as I take your money at the poker table.
